We had to lay down a beer story on this site. The only time I’ve ever seen this beer is at Delilah’s Chicago for their annual Lambic and Sour Beer Festival Oscar F1 was sitting right on the bar. Lips of Faith Series and Wood Cellar Reserve are the two most passionate projects at the country’s 4th largest craft brewery.
Oscar Aged in Blackberry Whiskey Barrels and Felix Aged in Apple Whiskey Barrels are the two latest offerings from Fort Collins. Colorado is home to over 300 breweries and New Belgium is the largest independently owned operation in that group.

Word is they throw a mean party for GABF week. You need a car to get up there from Denver . Same goes for Avery and Casey’s as all three are over an hour away.
Apple Felix and Blackberry Oscar are naturally carbonated and bottle conditioned.
The former has cherry and green apple aromas with notes of tart citrus, while the latter slips into boozy blackberry and vanilla undertones. Both foeder-aged sours are then put to sleep in freshly decanted fruited whiskey barrels from Leopold Brothers Distilling in Denver. This is the first time either has been bottled in the 26year history of the brewery.

Other Notes:
-Oscar F1 and F2 are the two blends that make up New Belgium La Folie Sour Brown Ale
-To clarify, I had the non whiskey bbl aged version of Oscar
-During the Chicago Brew Bus route I would always slip out of the Atlas (Burnt City) and head 2 doors down to Delilahs for a shot and a beer every Saturday.
New Belgium’s annual vaudeville circus bicycle extravaganza Tour De Fat makes 33 stops every year. The Legendary Roots Crew performed at Northern Island during the 2016 show.
